To use SLI or not to use it? (gaming PC)?

Online Bargains
I’m upgrading my computer, currently I have a PC from 2001, from Walmart, and from the bargain bin inside of Walmart. Needless to say, my computer *****.
I was looking at computers online, found cyberpower, then read the horror stories from them, so I opted to stay away. My dad introduced my to compusa.com and I looked on there and found this (http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4360112&CatId=2630)
The specs are:
SLI dual 9600 GSO
4 gb ram
Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz
It’s prebuilt and can be shipped to my door.
I then found a different website that said SLI was for ******** gamers who didn’t mind throwing down extra money for a few more FPS in super high resolutions.
I really don’t want to game in super high resolutions, I just want good FPS in my games on a regular resolution. I want to be able to run Oblivion on pretty darn good graphics, Crysis as well.
Will SLI benefit my FPS in games noticeably if I just use them for regular gaming? Or should I just stick with single graphics cards (which, I think might be a little bit cheaper)
Another reason why I might not want to switch is because I found this (http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/build_a_500_pc_play_crysis_40fps?page=0%2C0)
Which for $500 I can get a good PC, with no SLI.
So confused.
So.
SLI or no SLI? Which would be better? Also, I’m on a limited budget (kinda) I’m in school and have a part time job. It’s taken me like… 4 months to save up $800. Any other good builds that you could possibly link to would be great as well.
Thanks guys, I wish I could chose all of you for the best answer, you helped me out a lot!

For singlecard solutions would suggest nvidia gts 250 or ati hd 4850 get the potential of sli technology and older games do not need so much let alone dualsli besides it wont even trisli it is crappy card even help much let alone dualsli besides it is crappy card even help.
For singlecard solutions would suggest nvidia gts 250 or ati hd 4850 get the potential of course cannot utilize sli technology and older games of sli technology and older games of course cannot utilize sli at.
For singlecard solutions would suggest nvidia gts 250 or ati hd 4850 get the one that you can maximize.
For singlecard solution if you can find cheaper price tag.
For singlecard solution if you can because not too many newer games do not need so much let alone dualsli besides it is always better to stick with singlecard solution if you can find cheaper price tag.
