How does one start a storefront business without much capital?

landlocked asked:

Limited personal funding - I do work (very hard I might add) and can’t seem to ever save much aside to pursue my goal of operating an antique store - there are insane bargains around here. Want to sell online and to west coast speciality stores from the small NE Iowa town I moved to (from So Cal). Need some solid ideas, no one seems to networks around here unfortunately - thanks in advance!

Work on a business plan. If you think you need help with such a plan there might be benefit in taking advantage of whatever assistance you might get from NICC in Calmar. Check out their courses, pay a visit and find out how enrolling in a course or two there might help you. At the very least, you could learn how to formulate a business plan and manage a small business. If you’re already a veteran of ebay selling, you’ve made a start - and no storefront required - you could operate from home with maybe a storage facility in your home.

Anyhow, back to the business plan - you’d need something of this sort to take to a lender should you decide to borrow to go into business.
